Epson’s Approach to Security
At Epson, we take the following approach to product network security so you can use your product safely and with peace of mind.
We consider security to be a fundamental of product quality.
1. Our products are designed to provide cradle-to-grave security.
2. We proactively provide security information and know-how to you.
3. We ceaselessly work to create countermeasures against vulnerabilities.
Our efforts are focused on vulnerability testing using industry standard tools and delivering products that are free of vulnerabilities.
We continuously monitor information about vulnerabilities from open source software used by our products' firmware.
When new vulnerabilities are found, we promptly analyze them and provide information and countermeasures.
Important Security Measures
The factory default settings of our products do not necessarily provide perfect protection. To ensure security, read the following during installation and configure the necessary settings for your usage environment.
1. Administrator Password
We strongly recommend setting up an administrator password on your product. If you do not set an administrator password or if you leave the administrator password at the factory default setting, your product settings and network settings could be vulnerable to access by unauthorized users, who could alter or steal personal data and confidential information, such as IDs, passwords, and address books.
2. Connecting to the Internet
Install products on a network that is protected by a firewall, wireless router, or other means instead of connecting directly to the Internet. We recommend setting up and utilizing a private IP address when you do this. Internet Firewall (Router).
